the food hub marketplace

At the Clatskanie Food Hub, you’ll find more than groceries—you’ll find the beating heart of our local food system. Step inside for fresh, nutrient-dense foods, a wee apothecary of plant-powered remedies, and art that tells the story of this land.

Everything you see is grown, raised, made, or conjured within 100 miles of Clatskanie. Over 100 local producers fill our shelves, and they take home 80% of every sale. The other 20%? It feeds the mission of the Clatskanie Farmer Collective—to grow a more resilient, rooted, and radiant local agriculture system.

the Food Hub Café

Pull up a chair and stay awhile.

The Food Hub Café serves seasonal brunch every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, featuring ingredients sourced from local farmers, ranchers, fishers, and food producers throughout our region.

Our menu changes with the seasons and reflects what is being harvested, caught, and produced nearby. From scratch-made breakfasts and lunches to soups, baked goods, ferments, and specialty beverages, every dish is rooted in our commitment to local food and traditional preparation methods.

We also prepare meals, snacks, desserts, and beverages for many of our concerts, workshops, dinners, and community events throughout the year.

A selection of coffee, tea, and specialty beverages is available during regular Food Hub store hours.

Whether you're stopping in for coffee, brunch, or an evening event, we look forward to welcoming you.

  • Our food is made from scratch using the highest quality ingredients we can find, sourced locally and seasonally from farmers, ranchers, fishers, and food producers throughout our region. We believe food should nourish deeply, taste alive, and tell the story of where it came from.

Because our food travels fewer miles and is harvested closer to peak ripeness, it arrives fresher, more flavorful, and more nutrient-dense.

    Whenever possible, we prioritize:

    • Local and seasonal ingredients

    • Regeneratively grown and organically raised foods

    • 100% pasture-raised meats

    • Non-homogenized, low-temperature pasteurized dairy

    • Wild and sustainably harvested seafood

    • Traditional preparation methods including sprouting, fermentation, bone broths, and low-temperature dehydration

    • Distilled and restructured water throughout our kitchen and beverage program

Our goal is simple: nourishing food that honors the people who produced it, strengthens our regional food system, and connects us more deeply to the place we call home.

  • Reducing waste is woven into nearly every part of our operation. From sourcing and food preparation to packaging and composting, we're continually looking for ways to keep valuable resources in use and out of the landfill.

    Reduce Single-Use Plastic

    • No disposable dine-in service ware

    • Jar deposit program

    • Customers are welcome to bring their own to-go containers

    • Reusable cloth produce bags available for purchase

    Minimal Imports & Low-Mile Distribution

Whenever possible, ingredients are sourced from local farmers, ranchers, fishers, and food producers, most located within roughly 100 miles of Clatskanie.

The few ingredients we cannot source locally are carefully selected, including:

    • Clean salt

    • Organic sugar

    • Organic extra-virgin olive oil

    Whole Animal Cooking

We strive to utilize the whole animal whenever possible.

    • A wide variety of cuts and organ meats

    • House-made bone broths

    • Rendered cooking fats including tallow and lard

    Food Rescue & Value-Added Processing

Each week we sort and recover surplus produce that might otherwise go unsold.

    These ingredients become:

    • Ferments

    • Preserves

    • Dehydrated products

    • House-made vegetable broths and soup bases

    • Seasonal prepared foods

    Slow Food Values

We believe good food deserves time and attention.

    • Reasonable portions

    • Fair prices

    • Family-style dining experiences when appropriate

    • A space designed to encourage conversation, connection, and community

    Full-Circle Waste Management

    • Composting pre- and post-consumer food scraps

    • Prioritizing reduction before recycling

    • No dumpster service

    • No outside trash accepted

    • Minimal plastic waste throughout operations

“A sincere thank you to the CFC Food Hub for playing a vital role in the Oregon State University Extension's gardening series, "Seed-to-Supper." Your generosity provided us with a meeting space in the Food Hub's Educational Area, enabling us to host the largest class in Columbia County! Participants learned the intricacies of planting, growing, and harvesting their own food, and were able to put lessons into practice with access to the CFC Community Garden across the street. This collaboration extended beyond the sharing of essential gardening skills; it cultivated a genuine sense of community. I look forward to ongoing collaboration in 2024 and am excited to participate in the wealth of other educational experiences you have planned!”

– Heather Mohan-Gibbons, MS  Columbia County Master Gardener™ (Oregon State University Extension)

"The Food Hub has connected me to a new community and provided a way to maximize my farms revenue and minimize what otherwise might have been good food that goes to waste. It is super important for small farms to have a flexible market channel. The Hub has allowed me to grow my sales with minimal additional planning/planting effort in a way that I didn't expect!"

- Thousand Furrows Farm

”The CFC Food Hub provides our community with seasonal, high-quality, local food that is free from the environmental impact of long-distance transportation. The opportunity to sell our pastured eggs and fresh produce this year not only minimized the food waste on our farm but also established a direct connection between Pippinstock and our community.  With the Hub's presence, we are fostering our farm's growth by adding more layer hens and the installation of a second high-tunnel to maximize produce production. The community's support has been instrumental in facilitating these expansions and we are excited about our growth. Thank you for being an invaluable part of this community!”

– Pippinstock (Farmstead)

"In partnership with the Food Hub, our farm is stronger and more equipped to head into the next few years with security and peace of mind."

– Low Tide Farms

"The Clatskanie Farmer Collective organization, which includes the Clatskanie Food Hub and the Clatskanie Farmers Market, offers many opportunities for us to market and distribute our farm goods to our local community. Both venues allow us to engage directly with our community either through in person interactions at the market or by providing fresh nutrient dense locally grown produce at a central location four days a week. The organization is passionate and well managed; with a focus on building and sustaining an eco-friendly food system. They have created a fun and inviting space for local produce and goods to be accessible to our community members. As a producer, we particularly admire their ability to be inclusive, rather than competitive, when providing an avenue for local farms and producers to connect with customers. We look forward to continuing to grow our farm business through involvement in the Clatskanie Farmers Market as well as the Food Hub."

– Corey Wahl and Susie Stopa of Hildaberry Farm & Nursery

"The food hub represents everything we're about! Decentralizing food systems, highlighting quality brands in a tasteful way, employing the local economy... I love what ya'll are doing and am so happy to be apart of it"

– Wild Rose Ghee

"The food hub has allowed me to significantly expand my sales and customer base, while allowing me to free up more time to spend on the land and with the bees. This has been instrumental in improving my mental health this year. Thank you for all your hard work."

- Happy Homestead Apiary

"The Food Hub provides a smart and genuine conduit from food producer to the public."

- food hub vendor

"The Food Hub is a fantastic local location dedicated to selling wholesome healthy food to a great community of people"

- food hub vendor

"I'm really pleased to be part of a vibrant and critical food system. I am sure we will need more food hubs like CFH in the future and, seeing CFH's successes, I'm more confident we'll be able to build them."
